What’s the future of our Data?
With that question, a group of friends (PRAGMATIC UTOPIANISM LAB) was invited by GOETHE-INSTITUTE SWEDEN to be part of the group-exhibition →DRONE DANCING 2018 at FARGFABRIKEN in Stockholm.
Different backgrounds in studies and jobs were the starting point for a regular exchange of the group. In a research-driven workshop atmosphere, it began a discourse about various future scenarios in a philosophical and sociological way. The focus quickly shifted to questions about digitization and big data. The result was a work in which visitors of the exhibition were invited to consciously position themselves as to how they would like to deal with their own digital data in the year 2047.
After four possible scenarios had been explained in text form, visitors could print out their personal digital footprint in just a few steps via a touchscreen and freely decide what they wanted to do with it. They were free to place the abstractly visualized footprint as a sticker on a diagram, which formed the centerpiece of the work, wherever they would like their personal data to be handled. Whether more socialist or libertarian, an overall picture has thus grown over the period of the exhibition that has reflected the opinions of the visitors. The logarithmic development of the individual footprints also allowed conclusions to be drawn about which groups of people envision a similar future.
A cooperation between LEON DOERING, JAKOB KUKULA, FELIX KULPA, MORITZ KREUL, LEON LAPA PEREIRA, CHRISTOPHER OLK, KARO CASTRO-WUNSCH and GOETHE-INSTITUTE SWEDEN
